Berg Berg carries the shifting energy of the wind it is named for. Pale blue, muted teal and smoky grey move across the square surface in broad translucent fields, while denser pools and fine organic markings create areas of pressure, release and unexpected detail. The composition feels as though it is continually forming and dispersing, with the eye drawn through open passages of colour into the deeper movement near the centre. Ink has been allowed to flow and bloom, then held within layers of resin that give the work depth and a reflective finish. Some marks appear suspended beneath the surface while others sit more prominently, creating a balance between spontaneous movement and deliberate construction. Changes in surrounding light bring different passages forward without altering the restrained palette. At 525 × 525 mm, Berg has enough physical presence to hold a wall on its own while remaining suited to a living area, bedroom, hallway or workspace. It belongs to Donna O’Donoghue’s collection in which every artwork was named after a wind.
